What do solenoid valves do?
A solenoid valve is used to open, close, mix, or divert media in an application. They regulate the passage of air in a circuit, while a fluid solenoid valve controls the flow of a liquid or gas medium.
The extensive use of solenoid valves is not without a reason. The valves are safe, reliable, and efficient among other advantages.
Why do we use them?
Solenoid Valves are incredibly versatile, they can be automated, and operated remotely. Not only that, but their rapid opening and closing time is also ideal for when speed is critical
How do they work?
An electric current passes through the coil, which creates an electromagnetic field. This causes the plunger inside to move up or down. Which either releases or obstructs the flow depending on if the valve is “Normally Closed” or “Normally Open”

How do I choose a valve?
When choosing a solenoid valve, it is important to know your media
From there it’s important to know your:
– pressure requirement
– flow requirement
– valve and diaphragm material
– function, including: 2-Way, 3-Way, Normally Open, or Normally Closed
– port size
– min/max temperature
– voltage requirement
– response time
– any certificate requirements
